Your workbook has several tabs, but the receiving system asks for one CSV. Decide which sheet supplies that table first. Do not select the first file inside a ZIP just because its name looks familiar.
CSV is not a whole-workbook backup
Microsoft states that saving to text formats removes formatting and that Excel's CSV save uses only the active sheet. Keep the XLSX as your working original.
Our recommendation is to use CSV for checked table delivery, not as a backup expected to restore cell colours, pictures, charts and workbook behaviour.
How FileMyLove exports sheets
Open Convert document, select XLSX or XLS and choose CSV. The converter builds a separate text table for each non-hidden sheet containing table text. One qualifying sheet produces a CSV; several produce a ZIP of separate CSV files.
Hidden sheets are skipped. Pictures alone do not count as table text. The converter exports the cell text it can read, rather than preserving a working workbook with editable calculations inside CSV.
| Observation | Our suggested check |
|---|---|
| Fewer files than tabs | Look for hidden sheets or sheets with no table text |
| ZIP output | Extract it and compare CSV names with sheet names |
| Colours and pictures absent | Retain XLSX when you need those features |
| Totals differ | Compare with a reviewed and saved source workbook |
Prepare the handoff
- Open, review and save the source in a spreadsheet application.
- Work from a copy containing the intended data. Review hidden contents before unhiding any required sheet.
- Convert, download and extract the ZIP if provided.
- Compare headers, row counts and samples near the start, middle and end of each table.
- Import the file that matches the receiving system's requirements.
Do not concatenate several CSVs blindly. Sheets may have different columns or meanings; agree on the required table first. Successful export does not validate the destination's schema.
For garbled Thai, see CSV encoding. For altered numerical identifiers, see long CSV codes. Both are separate checks from sheet coverage.
