A 9:16 output can still contain black bars. First check whether you selected padding, and whether the source already contained bars. Changing the output shape alone is not an automatic black-bar removal operation.
Identify where the space comes from
Mediabunny documents that contain fitting preserves the full image and its proportions, which can leave letterboxing. FileMyLove uses this approach in the padding mode of change video aspect ratio.

Embedded black pixels are treated as part of the image. The tool has no automatic bar detector, so its preset ratio may not remove those pixels precisely.
Crop only when the lost edges are acceptable
Crop mode uses a centred rectangle with the chosen ratio. It does not track a face or move with a speaker. A subject near the side or captions near the bottom may be cut off even if the frame looks fuller.
Start from the complete source. Choose crop when the important content stays inside the remaining region, or padding when retaining the whole picture matters. For an adjustable crop position or a crop that changes during the clip, use an editor with those controls.
Review the whole clip
- Inspect the source before conversion.
- Choose the ratio and fitting mode.
- Download and open the result.
- Check the beginning, middle and end, especially when subjects move.
- Check captions, logos and other essential information.
