Why a 3D Model Converted to PDF Cannot Be Rotated

Create a four-view model reference, understand static PDF and PNG outputs, and choose a deliverable that matches the recipient’s task.

FileMyLove's 3D-to-PDF output is a static four-view sheet, not a model you can rotate inside the PDF. Use it to discuss appearance and retain the model source.

What each output contains

Output Result in this tool
PNG One angled view on white
PDF One landscape A4 page with angled, front, right and top views
Model file For a recipient who needs to open the model, after compatibility checks

Rotating the preview does not make the PDF interactive. Export uses fixed views rather than capturing the camera position you left on screen.

A view is not a dimensioned drawing

The renderer uses a perspective camera. Three.js describes this as perspective projection, so do not measure the printed image with a ruler as a substitute for model dimensions.

Our recommendation is to use the sheet to identify a part or discuss its shape. For manufacture, supply a dimensioned drawing with explicit units from the source application, following the recipient's requirements.

Prepare the delivery

  1. Open View 3D with the necessary companion files.
  2. Inspect parts, colours and textures.
  3. Use Convert 3D and select PDF or PNG.
  4. Reopen the output and inspect every view before sending it.

If textures are missing, fix the input set before producing another sheet. See GLB, glTF and missing textures. Exporting PDF does not reconstruct absent textures.

Match the recipient's task

Use PNG for a single illustration in a slide, or PDF for several views on one page. If the recipient must rotate or edit the object, agree on a supported model format and keep the original authoring project.

For physical printing, read STL, OBJ and 3MF. A picture of the model in a PDF does not replace the model data required by a 3D printing workflow.
