A merged report may retain its pages while its sidebar heading list disappears. Check page content and navigation separately before sharing a long document.
Bookmarks are not the contents page
Adobe describes bookmarks as labelled links in the navigation panel that point to a page or view. A page displaying a table of contents is separate document content.
Seeing that contents page does not establish that sidebar entries or every link work. Open the output and try them.
What the site's merge does
FileMyLove's Merge PDF creates a new document and copies pages from each input in order, using PDF-LIB's page-copy operation. This workflow does not migrate bookmark trees or generate new bookmarks.
If the recipient requires bookmarks, a correct page count is not enough. Plan a navigation-authoring step in a capable application after the final page order is settled.
Review the merged copy
| Item | Our suggested check |
|---|---|
| Completeness | Compare page count and each section's opening page |
| Order | Inspect every boundary between input files |
| Contents page | Check headings and printed page references |
| Sidebar bookmarks | Open the panel and try the entries |
| Links within pages | Click important entries in the downloaded file |
When bookmarks are required
We recommend keeping every source file, finishing the merge and page order, then using an application that can author bookmarks, such as Acrobat with document-editing permissions. Name sections and set destinations against the actual final pages.
Adobe documents bookmark creation and destination editing. Those are capabilities of that application, not an additional FileMyLove control. Save a copy, reopen it and test the entries again.
If pages still need moving, use Organize PDF before authoring final navigation. See merging PDF files for the basic workflow and page numbers and watermarks to distinguish visible numbering from sidebar navigation.
