Do not judge a cutout only from its thumbnail. Check the hair, clothing edges and gaps around the body. An edge that looks tidy on white can reveal a halo on a darker background. These checks are our suggested workflow, not a promise that every image will separate correctly.
Identify the problem first
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| A whole lock of hair is missing | Compare with the original before adding outlines or shadows |
| Original background colour around the subject | Try a contrasting background to locate the remaining fringe |
| Soft edges but a complete silhouette | Inspect at the intended viewing size as well as enlarged |
| A white border after choosing Sticker | Set the sticker outline to zero before judging the AI result |
PNG supports partial transparency under the W3C specification. A partly transparent edge is not automatically wrong; turning every hair into a hard edge is not always the right goal.
Check the result in FileMyLove
- Open remove background and choose your source.
- Start removal and wait for it to finish. The first run may need time to prepare the model.
- Use Show original to compare the silhouette, then return to the edited view.
- If you applied Sticker, set its outline to zero and turn off the shadow for this check.
- Temporarily disable transparency and try both light and dark background colours.
- Restore Transparent background and select PNG if you want a transparent download.
The tool clears the image after download. Keep the original if you want more versions. Image processing stays on your device.
Decoration cannot restore missing detail
Our suggestion is to try a source with a larger, clearly separated subject. If you have several photos, compare them rather than repeatedly saving an incomplete cutout. A shadow or white outline changes the style; it does not restore removed hair.
The shipped BiRefNet model analyses a 512×512 input. Its model card notes limited edge detail on large images. A larger downloaded image therefore does not mean the AI examined every source pixel at that resolution.
There is no manual mask brush yet. In this editor, cropping and light controls also do not change the source read by AI. To prepare a different input, save an edited copy and open that copy as a new file, taking care not to crop away anything you need.
Finish only after the cutout is acceptable
For important images with missing detail, try another original or a tool with manual masks. Once the edges are acceptable, continue with white-outline photo stickers. If transparency disappears after saving, read PNG versus JPG.
