Word to EPUB: Check a Book Before Reading on Your Phone

Prepare headings and reading order before converting DOCX to EPUB, then check navigation, pictures and tables in the reader you actually use.

For a Word handbook you want to read on your phone, try an EPUB reading copy. Start with headings and reading order, not positions on an A4 page. Inspect the result in your actual reading app.

Expect pagination to change

W3C defines both reflowable and fixed-layout EPUB content. Reflowable reading systems paginate dynamically, so a chapter on Word page 10 need not remain on page 10.

Our recommendation is to try EPUB for text-led reading copies. If a picture's precise relationship to text carries meaning, inspect that section carefully and consider keeping a PDF from the source too.

Prepare a checkable source

  1. Keep the original DOCX separately.
  2. Use Word heading styles rather than relying only on bold text and larger type.
  3. Check heading order, paragraphs and captions.
  4. List important tables and pictures to verify after conversion.

These are our preparation suggestions, not a guarantee that every style survives. Pandoc, used by the converter, aims to retain structure and documents limits to formatting fidelity.

Export and read a sample

Open Convert document, choose DOCX and select EPUB. Download the result and open it in the EPUB reader you plan to use. FileMyLove processes the document in your browser without uploading it.

Check Our suggested test
Contents navigation Follow chapter entries and verify their destinations
Thai text Enlarge text and inspect characters, marks and wrapping
Tables Verify every column, especially wide tables
Pictures Compare presence and caption placement with the source
Links Check important destinations before sharing

Try portrait and landscape. If the reader offers a text-size setting, change it and reread a sample chapter. A successful download and a plausible page count do not establish completeness.

If reading remains awkward

Our suggestion is to revise the DOCX and export again. Simplify complex tables where the content permits, checking against the original each time. For a page-oriented delivery copy, see Word-to-PDF layout. For other output choices, see document conversion.
