FileMyLove transcription accepts files up to 20 minutes and 100 MB each. Keep a longer original and prepare shorter copies, checking both duration and file size for every segment.
Choose boundaries by listening
Our recommendation is to stop at a sentence or topic boundary before the limit, rather than in the middle of a word. Segmenting organises the work; it does not guarantee more accurate recognition.
Keep a small log. This illustrative plan must be adjusted to the actual recording.
| Copy | Range in the original | Extra note |
|---|---|---|
| interview-01 | 00:00–14:50 | Final words |
| interview-02 | 14:50–29:35 | Opening words |
| interview-03 | 29:35–end | Final topic |
Create each segment
- Open Trim audio and select the original.
- Set the first start and end times and choose an output format.
- Trim, download and name the copy to match your log.
- Make subsequent segments from the same original.
- Listen to each beginning and ending, then check its size and duration.
Mediabunny documents trimming as selecting a start-to-end interval; output timestamps normally begin again at zero. Use your log when relating a copy's playback time to the original recording.
Review the joins
Process each copy in Audio to text, review it and download TXT before switching files. Compare the final sentence of one segment with the opening of the next. If you deliberately overlap segments for context, remove duplicate text after listening, not merely because two sentences look similar.
Assemble the working transcript
Combine TXT files in order in your text editor. Keep segment names and original time references until review is complete. The site does not automatically merge segments or label speakers, and you should save text before closing the page.
See the interview review guide for names, numbers and negations. If the trimmer cannot open the original, first use an editor that supports it. Renaming an extension alone does not repair an unreadable file.
